Hi! My name’s Max, and I’m 19 years old. Well from that moment I want to tell you one story that changed my life.
From my chidhood I’ve been dreaming about United States, I mean to see that country in real life. As You know plenty movies was made in USA, I mean really good movies, So there can be no doubt of that everyone in out world knows how’s Time Square, Empire State Building are look like. But You know, when you see it in the movies it’s seems to you like really ordinary thing, to see skyscrapers, to see different architecture, However when the moment comes to see it in real life, the scinery takes your breath away (I don’t know about you but this thing has happend with me). I still remember everything (i mean my feelings, emotions and impressions) like it was yesterday or maybe even 5 minutes ago.
Well If we return to past when i was only a kid who’s been studing at 5th grade at school, we will see the eyes that’ been full of the fire!
In the beginning I couldn’t allow myself even one dream of visiting States, Cuz I knew that the trip I’ve been dreaming about costs really big money. However my inner voice kept telling me that “You can make Impossible become possible”. As Mark Twen said. “You will not be wrong, if you make it right”. I tried to fill my entire free time with English, I’ve been studing it day and night. And plenty time later, (thanks God) I read about “Work&Travel”. I was so deligted that I finaly found the real opportunity. Predominant little conversation and considering my idea with my parents. And YES! Parents gave permission to participate in the program. Btw it was in September, but even then i felt myself like i would be in USA in a few days. However my flight actually was on the 26th on the May.... The whole time during waiting period was terribly BORING!
Finally time came to my flight.... Hearing captain voice about landing (in USA already) I was so full of emotions. Time seemed to me really slow. I couldn’t wait! All I wanted in that time was to make my desire of seeing New York to come true! 2 hours in undergroung and yes, i’m at middle manhattan! Shoot, you can’t even imagine how I was feeling myself when came out from underground!!! Buildings, English speech, noice of the cars and people that were messing around on the background, everything that’s ordinary for americans made me feel like a kid whose favorite dream came true! Everything that i told just took my breath away because my FAVORITE DREAM CAME TRUE!
Knoledges are really valuable! And simple knoledges of other languages makes you really competity on a Labour market! I din’t expect that my English will became much more better than i had!
Culture.
By the moment when i arrived in USA. Ididn’t even expect that culture could be so different from ours! Almost whole population of USA is really polite, what i can’t say about Kazakhstan! Feeling yourself bad? Don’t worry people will give you a hand (Not everyone. Don’t expect that you will be surround by the really big crowd of people that are going to worry about you). Exactly that thing i really like about Unite States! The employers are really loyal and polite! And there are relly enomous quantity of the things that are different in my motherland. So exactly these things make you feel yourself really different. And the feelings are good! Still under impressions! Even if i have been already in South Korea, I became obsessed or addicted to USA hahah. Seems like you visited another world!
Well thanks for everything to “Work&Travel”, especially for my favourite dream came true! If you’d like to realize your dreams, KCET is always welcome! Thank you my favourite company!
I really hope that in the next year I’ll be capable to visit the States again!

Work and Travel program changed all my life. It was with the help of KCET Agency. It is not just summer program, it is a huge experience and miraculous capabilities. I saw new opportunities and met with new cultures.
My name is Magzhan Sakhanov, I was a participant of the program Work and Travel 2016. I went to a small town in Alaska State. I have heard about Alaskan nature a lot, but when I saw it with my own eyes, I was so surprised by this beauty. A huge mountains which is in contact with the sky, Glaciers at the sight of which your breath freezes. I met very kind and friendly peoples and I am very happy. When I was in Valdez, I saw Northern Light and it is the best think what I ever see. Town where I worked is so amazing, I see foggy harbor, clouds which playing with green mountains and in our town a lot of funny bunnies. Once I saw mouse, bear and when we went to glaciers, we saw sea lions, dolphins and beautiful whales. When I was in New York, I visited Empire State Building, Broadway, Times Square and a lot of beautiful, interesting places. In New York so much colors, screens, various peoples. When you walk here, you can see peoples from whole world. USA it is country of freedom, a country of opportunities. I am very happy, because I use this change, I collected good experience and memory.

My name is Dmitriy Li-Shan-Shin, I was a participant of a J1 student program in summer 2016 and summer 2017 from KCET. I would like to tell you about those times I spent in America and what those times taught me.
I was working in Alaska both years because of its wonderful nature and climate, nice and friendly people and town that will always be in my heart, Girdwood. It is a small town that is situated about 30 miles south of Anchorage, covered by mountains and rainforest this place is one of the most magnificent and beautiful places I have ever seen. It is a popular ski resort in winter and in summer it is well known for its annual Forest Fair—a huge festival celebrating Alaskan music, arts, and crafts and great summer activities such as hiking, fishing and biking. My workplace was Hotel Alyeska and Alyeska Resort and I started working at the dish station as a steward. This hotel has several restaurants but I worked at the Sakura Asian Bistro where you can enjoy sushi and Asian dishes. The crew of this restaurant was very nice, friendly and funny so it feels like being a part of family. It was a pleasure to work with those people and I am happy that I shared those summers with them.
Spending time in the United States changed my life in a positive way. It is all about making decisions. From planning your trip to planning your budget, you are in complete control of your journey. Meeting someone from another country changes you. You gain entirely new perspectives on the world from the conversations you have and the meals you share. You realize what you see in the news is not reality and friendships can be formed in all corners of the globe. You start to understand new cultures, not even American. There are a lot of the same students from all over the world. I was working with students from China, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Ukraine. When you travel overseas you realize none of this matters and your views on everything take on a new perspective. You learn how people view your country or their own country as a whole and it challenges you to take a harder look at your personal stances. The world would be a better place if we all left our comfort zones and experienced another culture.
Most people don’t have the opportunity to travel and this is especially true for young students. That is why Work and Travel program is a unique way to experience new things and it makes such a great impact on students. The relationships you have formed, how your perspective on the world has changed, or the positive changes travel has led to back home. Work and Travel has made me a better person and I am sure most of us, participants, can say the same. It helps students find purpose in life, introduces them to new cultures and broadens their horizons.

Всем привет, меня зовут Салтанат! И я была три раза в штатах по программе Work & Travel!
Да-да, целых три раза мне улыбалась удача, и все три лета моих каникул в университете я проводила в стране, куда мечтают попасть многие!
Моя американская история началась не совсем обычно, как у многих! Поступив на первый курс на специальность переводчика и переехав из небольшого городка Байконур в мегаполис Алматы, я, конечно же, столкнулась со множеством трудностей, одной из которых стало отсутствие практики английского языка в школьный период. Это, конечно же, сказалось на моих университетских предметах, ведь моей основной специальностью теперь была переводческая деятельность. Так, весь первый курс мой преподаватель по английскому языку каждый семинар изрядно ‘издевалась’ над моими языковыми способностями, точнее, как она выражалась, над их отсутствием!
Таким образом, прибегая каждый раз после пар в общежитие с заплаканными глазами, в один из таких дней уже не в силах стерпеть очередной ‘урок жизни’ я позвонила своей маме. Мама оказалась женщиной весьма мудрой: не став устраивать разборки ни с кем: ни с инициатором издёвок, ни с пострадавшей от них, она разрешила ситуацию простым заявлением: «Собирай документы и езжай в штаты подтягивать язык!»
Так, основной целью моей поездки стала не какая-то там детская мечта увидеть Америку, и отнюдь не деньги, и даже не культурный обмен, а простая ни на есть безысходность!)) Срочно вбив в поисковик гугла три слова “Work and Travel”, я увидела на первой строчке 4 заглавные буквы – КСЕТ: Kazakhstan Council for Educational Travel!
В тот же день вбежав по указанному адресу в двери этого агентства, я вышла оттуда лишь спустя три года))
Зарегистрировавшись на программу 26 февраля, через 2 дня я узнала, что набор на нее уже закрыт)) Так, я поняла, что при этом еще и “запрыгнула в уходящий поезд”!
Каждый год КСЕТ проделывало всю работу по сбору документов, подбору работодателя, предоставлению рабочего контракта, прохождению интервью на 100%. От нас оставалось лишь одно – пройти интервью с консулом и получить визу! Я помню каждый день каждого года. Помню, как впервые, после стольких внушенных сомнений, до жути боясь за свой английский, я в мандраже ехала на такси в 6 утра в сторону ул. Жолдасбекова, поспав всего лишь полчаса за ночь из-за подготовки к предстоящей сессии. Я помню, как будучи маленькой и хрупкой первашкой, я попросилась первой зайти к консулу. Помню, как коленки дрожали, когда на меня смотрели добрые голубые американские глаза и улыбка. И я до сих пор отчетливо помню, как не знала, радоваться мне утверждённой самой первой визе, или же бежать во все мочи ловить обратно такси, дабы не опоздать на этот экзамен по информатике, к которому я и готовилась всю ночь. Прибежав в 8:20 аудиторию, запыхавшаяся я была взволнована тем, что, если бы ещё какие-то десять минут, и моя виза в принципе была бы не пригодна угрозой летника, что уж говорить о последующих визах.
Год спустя, я уже спокойно шла, не впопыхах, не рано утром, не волнуясь за сессию, а рядом шёл и бесконечно задавал вопросы мой друг. Шли, пребывая в эйфории от предстоящих каникул за океаном. Но я уже была более спокойной, больше переживала за друга. И снова мы зашли первыми: стало своего рода доброй традицией)) Не успела оглянуться, как снова эти добрые американские глаза, уже другого цвета, искренне поздравляли меня. А через 3 минуты я уже оказалась в воздухе в объятиях своего друга, который кружил от счастья, что через пару дней впервые сядет на самолёт.
На третий год я снова приехала первой, а через 15 минут следом и моя подруга. Мы долго мёрзли на улице, ожидая захода нашего потока. А когда пришло время, мы снова оказались на 18 этаже первыми. Первыми мы подошли к казахстанским окошкам, первыми у нас забрали наши документы, но по рассеянности местного работника, наши папки отложили в сторону, из-за чего мы, пропустив кучу студентов, оказались свидетелями чьей-то радости и чьих-то слез. Но спустя полчаса мы уже сидели в соседнем «Урбане» и попивали айс-латте, празднуя то, что очередное лето снова будет проведено за океаном.
В целом, если вспомнить все три лета, проведённых вне дома, я могу смело заявить - это были самые лучшие моменты в моей жизни! Это колоссальный опыт, благодаря которому я стала тем, кем я являюсь сейчас! Это множество друзей, с Казахстана в том числе, при чем приобретенных за его пределами! Это незабываемые путешествия в Майями, Лос-Анджелес, Лас-Вегас, Новый Орлеан, Чикаго, Нью-Йорк и многие другие города. Это неимоверной энергетики концертные туры Beyonce и Maroon 5! Это дикая природа Аляски, жаркие пляжи Южной Каролины и сказочная атмосфера Луизианы, где я имела возможность работать эти три лета! Это, в конце концов, деньги))
Но самое главное, это английский, который и был моей основной целью!
А сегодня, благодаря американскому бэкграунду и собственно подтянутому английскому, я являюсь уже членом семьи тех самых четырех заглавных букв, которые когда-то волею судьбы высветились на первой строчке гугловского поисковика!
Сегодня я работаю в КСЕТ! И рада тому, что и я теперь в какой-то степени могу осуществлять чужие мечты, ну или, как в моем случае, спасать чью-то безысходность.))
